Best Answer – Chosen by Voters "i am not british because i am from belfast." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!That's like saying "I am not American as I'm from New York".Belfast is as much a UK city as London or Edinburgh or Cardiff. Clue is in the fact that the Belfast section of Yahoo Answers is in the United Kingdon Travel section, not the Irish one. And the fact that it's postal address is the UK. And about a million other things….Questions of this nature really p*ss me off and it's typical of "nationalists" in Northern Ireland trying to force their one-track opinions down the throats of us Irish people who don't care any more. Come out with all this sh*te and call Londonderry Derry etc. etc. when reunification actually happens(which I obviously hope never does and I don't think it will anyway).Until then, keep your traps shut! And if people like "I should be doing something else", Daniel, GreenBrigade etc. don't like what I've just said, then tough sh*t!! The truth hurts. And to answer your idiotic question, most people from Northern Ireland look like English and Scottish people, so I'm sure you're no different.Edit: Maebh, think you're the one who doesn't know what you're talking about. Are you saying that everything I've said is incorrect? Obviously, you've never heard of the Good Friday Agreement. And based on your logic, would you refer to the likes of Ian Paisley and Jeffrey Donaldson as Irish? I doubt it somewhat. And so what if places Dublin and Cork flew the Union Jack, that was then, this is now. We don't have red postboxes, use Sterling or even have Wetherspoons down here, do we? And as regards the tone of my reply, anyone who calls themselves "Irish Rosie", refers to Northern Ireland as the "North of Ireland" and tries to shovel this idea down our throats that they're Irish is obviously looking for a reaction(as is the norm with trolling questions), and I've given one. If you don't like that reaction, then tough luck, that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
Technically you ARE British because you're from Belfast, but the great thing is that you can choose which nationality you can call yourself. Belfast is still part of the UK province of Northern Ireland, which is technically not Ireland – but that could change. (Many of us would love if it did, but we're not too keen on any more bloodshed, bad feeling, upset, etc.)Listen love, there are many many Irish people with black hair and dark eyes. There are also a few natural redheads, blondes and brown-haired people. What's typical anything in this day and age? Humanity has moved around so much that none of us are pure anything. Both my parents were the darkhaired, dark-eyed variety, they ended up with 2 redhead kids, and one blonde one. What's typical Irish? You sound attractive. Be thankful you don't get freckles, they are a curse.
BrianO sounds completely rude and very ignorant about Irish History; if he thinks Belfast is British (and he is calling himself Irish) then he needs to think again about Dublin, for example, and Cork, both cities both flew the Union Jack not too long ago…and all in answer to a question which was very politely asked. (Rosey…if you were born in Belfast or any other place on the island, you are Irish, no matter what you look like. Don't buy into these rubbishy notions from people who really do not know what they are talking about….good luck to you)
An estimated 40 %of Scots carry the red hair gene and 13 % have red hair. (In Ireland, 10 % of the population has red hair.)http://www.rte.ie/tv/theafternoonshow/20…Only 10% of Irish people have red hair – one in ten. That means nine out of every ten don't. Yes, you look Irish – like the most of us who don't fit the description that "lots of people" have given you.
There is no set look for Irish people.Being from Ireland you should know that by nowNot every Irish person has freckles and many Irish [people have dark hair and sallow skin, for example my brother, where as i have fair hair and fair skin.Red heads aren't as common here as people think
Yeah I'd say you do , it doesn't matter , you were born in Ireland so you're Irish , and that is that.
im from ireland as is my whole family and i have dark brown hair dark brown eyes and pale skin how many people do you ever really see with red hair and freckles its just what people think we should look like
If this is a serious question you seriously need to get out more.We dont all look at the same in ireland .
If you were born in Northern Ireland then you are British.
Correction you were born in the British Isles so you're British not Irish.
