Do I need to switch my car insurance and registration?
I am moving back to Oklahoma after 2 years. I bought a car in Maryland and it is registered and insured in Maryland. I still have 1 year left on my tags and my insurance policy just started another 6 month policy. How long do I have to switch to Oklahoma insurance and registration. Do I even need to until my policy is over and my tags expire?

You need insurance to satisfy the requirements of the state you live in as well as the requirements for where your vehicle is registered. Typically, you have about 30 days to swtich everything over. If you are military, there may be exceptions. Look into this w/you DMV. Your insurance is easy, just call your insurance co., they can easily change your policy to OK if they are licensed to sell insurance there.
if your moving there you need to do it as so as possible.
Different places, different rules. Better safe than sorry. Do it. Otherwise if you get into a fenderbender, you may get zilch. Should be a quick transfer.
