   Best Answer – Chosen by Voters WI and NH are the only two states that I am aware of that do not require car insurance. Just because these states don't require car insurance doesn't mean that you don't have to pay if you cause an accidentThey both require "Financial Responsibility" which means if you cause an accident, you have to pay out of your own pocket or they take your drivers license until you agree to pay back the other party or their insurance. The other party and/or their insurance can sue you, get a judgment, screw up your credit and other nasty things.It's not worth it to go without it. Trust me on this, I deal with uninsured people in WI every day who wish like hell they had bought car insurance. Some owe $50,000 plus for car damages and injuries they caused.    Every state requires either insurance or that a driver be self insured and take financial responsibility for any damage they do, which means either insurance or a large cash bond with the state.See http://www.autoinsuranceindepth.com/stat…Are you that against being protected from loss that you would actually move somewhere that didn't require insurance?

   It works both ways. You don't feel you should have to pay to insure your vehicle. That's great as long as you aren't found to be at-fault in a collision. I'm sure you'd see it differently if the person who totaled your vehicle didn't have insurance either. That's called karma.

   There are two that do not require it. New Hampshire and Wisconsin. I believe that there is a third that just requires showing proof of financial responsibility, but I can't remember what state that is

   move to Mexico. Every state in the US requires some sort of liability insurance.

   Wisconsin is the only one that I know of for sure, but this state really sucks, stay away from Wisconsin!!!
