Deciding to dye my hair at home, advice on colour and brand to use?
1.) The colour I want to dye my hair is like an auburn red, or like a red brown, and I’ve been thinking off doing peek-a-boo highlights in that colour, because I don't to go full head. Like so:

2.) My other option is to either do both copper and red highlights – some say it look trashy- but I think it looks nice.
3.) My third choice is to go for a light chestnut colour, but I don't know if it would suite my skin tone
Light chestnut, like so: http://www.marieclaire0o0com/cm/marieclaire/images/jJ/stealing-beauty-1108-3-medium-new.jpg
I want something that looks well blended and something hat sticks out but nothing over dramatic. So I don’t know whether I should get highlights or get a full head. Peek-a-boo highlights will be nice because I am kinda afraid of doing the whole head a lighter shade of brown because it may not come out right.
As for products, I was thinking of using Revoln Colorsilk, because it is ammonia free. However I have been reading review on their products and it seems that the colour fades quickly.
I need something hat won't fade fast, is AMMONIA FREE (definitely needs to be ammonia free).
So tell me what the best option is from the options above and please include the brands you think work well with my request, or suggest anything that you may have in mind. Also specific product colours would be greatly appreciated. So like what L’Oreal red would look best?
Thanks for your help in advance ^_^

My suggestion is that if you are going to try to do highlights or anything other than all over colour, to go to a professional, until you are really good at dying your hair a solid colour. My suggestion for mhair coloring boxes are Herbal essences, that's what I use for my all over color, and the color only fades like, 1 or 2 shades. Also, the boxes have examples as to mwhat color your hair is now, and what color it will become, so make sure top look at that. Also, since your hair is dark, you do have to be careful because by going lighter you are stripping the color from your hair and removing it's nutrients. Also, so yhou know, Ammonia Free dye's won't hold as well as those with ammonia. From the herbal essences (which includes ammonia) website, the colors I reccommend for you…1. My suggestiong for a reddish brown is color number 38 in Herbal essences color me vibrant line.2. My suggestion for highlights is HL3-f Caramel Swirl in the herbal essences Shade on shade highlights line.3. For a chesnut brown I suggest Chopclate Velvet with is color number 66 in the color me vibrant line form herbal essences. From The Clairol Natural instincts (ammonia Free)1. Color 30, Dark Auburn Brown3. 20 Medium BrownFrom Loreal Natural Match (ammonia Free)1. 5R Medium Auburn 3. 6C light ash brownI dye my hair with herbal essences all over all the time, and nothing has gone wrong for me, it always turns out thew way I want it. You have to be smart about it and read the hair color labels on the side of the boxes, like I explained before. And remember, if you have darker hair, you will have to go one shade lighter then you actually want to go… And that, it will fade in a couple days so the first days, it will be darker then desired. Dying your hair at home is very risky I stongly suggest you go to a professional. And all hair dyes fade at some point and you have to keep adding color.
Here's a tip = DO NOT die your hair at home!!!!!! One of my friends did that once. She had curly light chestnut hair(shown in your photo) and it ended up bright clown red, and because her hair was curly and short, it looked HORRIFYING. She next day she stayed home from school until her mom could find die for her natural hair color. Please get it done professionally. You can even use those pictures to get the exact color you want.
