Car Insurance question – How to accelerate the process?
One week ago my car was struck form the rear while parked and pushed into another car. I have the police report that shows that It wasn't my fault, which I faxed to Geico (we both have Geico). I am trying to use the other party's policy, but Geico is telling me that they are still waiting for that person to call back.
They are saying that they have to wait for 30 days, before sending them a warning, etc.
I have collision coverage, but I didn't want to use it because my premium might magically go up?
My question is how can I get the ball rolling, it's obvious that the perpetrator is ignoring the insurance company calls. Should I just use my collision coverage, or is it worth it to wait?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters In order for you to 'get the ball rolling,' use your own insurance. Geico is correct…no insurance company will or can pay a claim without first talking to their policyholder to verify the accident took place, police report or not.
As long as it is found to be the other person's fault – your rates can NOT increase because of the accident. I would use your own policy. Source(s): Insurance Producer
Dude, just use your own policy. Most likely it will change to his coverage before repairs are complete anyway. Source(s): CowboyBill, claims guy
No.. just go through your own coverage. The at fault party has an obligation to cooperate with their insurance…. the insurance MUST give them the chance to call and tell their version of the story (believe it or not… a bunch of companies actually will deny a claim if their insured doesnt cooperate- so you have it good!)If you go through collision.. when they eventually do determine liability they will forward your deductible back to you if they find the other guy at fault… but… i mean.. you could get it done now.. or get annoyed and wait 30 days.. you cant magically get the ball rolling.. they arent doing anything wrong..
