Can I take One-A-Day Teen Advantage- For Him, if I'm a girl?
I read on the bottle that the One-A-Day Teen Advantage- For Him will make muscle growth a lot easier. I want to take it, but I don't want it to have negative side affects, since I'm a girl. The one "For Her" is designed to keep skin healthy. I don't really care about keeping my skin clear, but I would like a little more muscle mass. I'm training to be a firefighter, so being strong is very important to me. Would it be okay to take the one designed for boys?

If it is "over the counter" vitamins then there should be nothing in either that would hurt you. If you are wanting muscles more than clear skin, I would just take the 2 of the boys vitamins…as I imagine from your description the boys vitamins contain a completely different mix of vitamins aimed at replenishing what is lost in strength training. If there are any vitamins in there that you do not need…. with you being female instead of male…do not worry….as is the case with all supplimental over the counter vitamins…most vitamins that your body does not use/need will be expelled in your urine.Point of interest; Most people that spend a lot of money on a lot of extra vitamin suppliments their body does not need….could save some trouble by just flushing their money down the toilet…because that is where they are ending up anyways…lol!Take some vitamin suppliments for a few days and notice how yellow your pee will get.If you eat a balanced diet and "eat your veggies",,,,your body is getting most all the vitamins that are in a suppliment pill….but if you are working out…then I would go ahead and take 2 of the boys only and you will pee out what you dont need. Maybe some will stay because they are needed as a result of increased muscle activity.
One of the differences in male and female advertised vitamins is iron. Men don't have periods and are not in need of as much iron as women to replenish their blood supply. Take the women's vitamins and up your protein intake. Men build muscle more easily because they have more testosterone. Women's hormones tend to turn extra calories into fat to store it just in case we become pregnant. You could take two but vitamins from the same source have a limited level of absorption. If pill A has the daily source of Vit. C and pill B has the same amount, your body cannot absorb both. It will likely only absorb a portion of the amount in pill A. Taking the extra pill is a just waste of money, really. Take one vitamin and add a proper balance of fruits and veggies, milk, meat, etc. Vitamins found naturally in food are much more easily absorbed by our bodies. A recent study was done on vitamins and they are not all they advertise to be since we can't absorb that level in the form they sell it. Some doctors are even moving towards telling pregnant patients to eat a balanced diet and not take any prenatal vitamins other than folic acid.
NO, you'll grow a ! JKLook at the labels. There probably isn't that much difference. You won't grow as much muscle mass as a boy regardless of what you take unless you take steroids. lp
