Can I buy car insurance in the state i have previously lived?
I use to live in NY and I currently live in Texas. One of our cars is currently registered in NY; HOWEVER we purchased a second car and that is registered in TX.
Legally, where can I obtain car insurance?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters autoinsurance.noneto.com – try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.
Okay, I have two cars (2003 Accord & a 1999 Bmw 323i). I have basic liability for both cars for my wife and I as drivers, plus $25,000 additional liability coverage on the cars.We just paid $427 for an entire year ($35/month )for the same car insurance company we were already paying around $2,000 for before! How can you beat that? I have tried and I have looked through numerous car insurance companies, you have to find the right bargain. Find the best deals available on the entire internet. If you already have Allstate, Geico, AIG, Progressive, Mercury, Esurance, American Family, Nationwide or any other USA auto insurance, and you are paying too much, Go here: http://carinsurance.fsaenterprise.com (esurance from here would probably be the cheapest) (best for students and everyday drivers)
You can purchase insurance in Texas for a car registered in another State. I lived in NYC and my Toyota is still registered their. My insurance is out of Dallas TX. I live in Houston. Source(s): http://www.landainsurance.com
yeah you have to get insurance in the state that the car is registered in and where you drive the most.Check out link below and you can find cheap insurance for your state Source(s): http://www.ihavetoadmit.com/carinsurance.php
You need to transfer the NY title over to Texas. You normally have 30 days after being a resident, or obtaining employment to do this. You also need Texas insurance on both vehicles.
you have to get insurance for the vehicle for what State and City you live in right now or its considered fraud be legal- get the NY car re registered in Texas
the car must be insured where it is garaged. If you live in Texas now, switch the other one too. Source(s): 25 years agent
The other answers are correct. You need to insure the vehicles in the state they are garaged at night. Source(s): Insurance Agent
Each car needs to be insured in the state it is registered in.
