Best Remington Rifle for 180 to 200 yards?
I want a rifle (for deer hunting hunting mainly) where I can really get that shot off for a 180 yard type range kill.
I was going to go with the .223 or better. But the 750 woodsmaster just looks handsome – I must confess I think I could fall in love with it, but beauty is only skin deep. I do like the autoload feature on it.
Any opinions on a Remington deer rifle for 200 yards? What is a great scope to go with it?
thanks

I would suggest a Remington 700. Excellent rifle and reasonably priced.I would also suggest 2 very accurate cartridges to peruse for deer hunting in the 700:1) a 270 Winchester Short Magnum (270 WSM) — very accurate, and 2) a 257 Weatherby Magnum, extemely accurate You can't go wrong with either of these cartridges. Probably two of the flattest shooting cartridges out there. Both have less recoil than a .30-06, and both are much, much more accurate than a .30-06. They both have plenty of power for deer hunting, and are almost like shooting a lazer beam.
Unless your current rifle has no rifling, or other catastrophic problem, if you can't hit a paper plate sized target (a deer's vitals) at 200 yards…It is your poor shooting.Look at this first, before you blame the rifle. Is 30/06 recoil causing you to flinch? Do you jerk the trigger? Do you breathe correctly? Is your scope sighted correctly, or, do you know how to align the sights? Do you get "buck fever?"A new rifle won't help anything if you have these bad habits… Source(s): Just being brutally honest.
Many people consider the .223 cartridge way to under powered for deer….Consider a Remington 700 chambered in .270…….http://www.remington0o0com/product-familieā¦
The remington 700 is a great rifle and resonable too. I like a nikon scope.
Remington 700 (R700)
I would suggest a Remington 700. its a great gun. nikon scopes are good.
You wont beat a Remington 700 for the money….another great rifle is the Ruger MK77 in stainless steel. I have one in a .223 and honestly, thats too light for deer especially at that range. A good caliber for you would be the 25-06. It is fast, shoots a bigger grain bullet, and shoots with a flat trajectory. In my opinion, its one of the most underappreciated rounds there is. .243 Winchester or the 6mm Remington are great too. Another caliber you might like is the .270…its the deer gun of choice for most hunters….therefore if you decide you dont like it, it will bring some good resale. Another great gun is the Remington 7600…its a pump action, usually has open sights and is a very good value….good luck and safe hunting!!! Id get a SAvage and screw the Remington. They are over rated. The Savage is a more accurate out of box gun. If your recoils sensitive get a 243 if not get a 30-06. The 243 has plenty of power to kill deer and in some states with elk its the minimum caliber allowed to take elk.The 223 is too light for deer. Not saying it wont kill one just saying its a little under poweredTrust me Go the Savage route and not the reimington. Remingtons quality has been going down hill. The Remingtons you have to spend money getting them accurized to shoot good but the Savage right out of the box will shoot awsome groups. They got a free floated barrel and accustock and accutriger..
