Benzaclin and retin-a ?
i use benza clin in the morning, and retin a at night. i wash my face every morning and night with the dove beauty bar. i use neutrogena oil free moisturizer for sensitive skin, i started using all this about a week ago and yesterday my face burnt REALLY bad after putting on aveeno moisturizer with spf . i switched moisturizers, but my face is realllly dry and flakey all over my chin, upper lip and the tops of my cheeks. i also have dry skin right under my eye brows and in the outer corner or my eye? i don't put any acne medications anywhere near my eyes. i read the directions that came with the benza clin and retin a and it says it will dry out my face real bad for the first 2-4 weeks, its clearing my acne but is my face going to be this dry and flakey the whole time i use it?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters It's the Retin-A I believe. Benzaclin is already drying, but mixing the two is going to make your skin even dryer. Benzaclin and Retin-A both contain different antibiotics, and unless you were OKed from your dermatologist to use both at the same time, I don't think it's a good idea. I use Benzaclin and it works faaaantastic. If I were you, I would cut the Retin-A and the moisturizer out of your daily routine and just stick with washing your face, maybe using a toner and then following with the Benzaclin. Even though Benzaclin is drying, it's definitely not going to make your skin peel and flake like crazy if you just use a necessary amount. I have pretty oily skin, and when I use Benzaclin I don't need a moisturizer after. Also, I have personal long term experience with mixing different products. Trust me, using Benzaclin + retin-a + dove + neutrogena is NOT a good idea. If you're going to use a Dove face wash, use a Dove moisturizer close to the same category. If you're going to use a Neutrogena moisturizer, use a Neutrogena face wash. It's not good to mix different brands. If you use products all within the same brand, it's not going to irritate your skin as much because they are for the most part all created with the same chemicals. I already told you what I would do, Benzaclin should be enough. I've never used the retin a but Benzaclin contains Benzoyl peroxide, and clindamycin (spelling) which if used with different chemicals/antibiotics can have adverse results. For now, try cutting down the regimen using only what you need to to see if you get any changes.
