Are you familiar with a real black woman who is famously known?

I have noticed that any black woman who gets special attention from the media (espeacially for being attractive in any way) is usually a lighter skinned woman. ex: Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Rihanna, halle Berry. im wondering what are the beauty standards in this country? Why is it that darker toned women are hardly given accolades in the eyes of the media??
