Undecided Question

Are you a socialist if……?

1. You think that people who can work for a living, but choose not to, are lazy parasites and shouldn't receive any funding from the working man?
2. You don't believe in welfare for corporations and think that if the private sector is as great as everyone says then they should have to deal with the consequences of their mismanagement? No government bailouts. You fail, you fail!
3. You think everyone should pay a flat tax because if everyone paid say, 10 percent, a millionaire would contribute 100,000 dollars and a guy earning 30,000 would contribute 3,000. No one should be punished by being put in a higher tax bracket because he earns more. The millionaire just gave you a good chunk of money, so why tax him at 40 or 50 percent.
4. You do believe in public education, and are willing to fund it with your taxes as you're the recipient of such an education and don't see why this generation shouldn't get what you got.
5. You have no problem with your tax money going to support a strong military and don't want the military privatized.
6. You believe everyone should have a chance to succeed on merit, not be promoted on basis of gender of skin color or sexual orientation.
7. You really couldn't care less if gay s have consensual sex with each other in the privacy of their own homes nor could you care less if working s like to smoke marijuana at home after a long day at the office if they so desire.
8. You believe in free trade, and think that it's hypocritical for America to allow trade with communist China and Viet Nam, but dictate that you can't visit Cuba or buy Cuban cigars and rum because it's communist.
9. You love America despite her faults, but you also respect America's allies and are grateful to the other prosperous, democractic nations, i.e., Canada, Australia and New Zealand for being by our side when we've needed them and for providing a great standard of living to their citizens so that they are not all refugees at our shores.
10. You think that a person with a pre-existing condition, who wants to work freelance or work two part-time jobs or work a full-time job that he loves, but doesn't provide benefits, should be able to buy affordable, comprehensive health insurance because it's wrong that health insurance has outstripped inflation by an outrageous amount whereas groceries (still can be had for one person on about $200 a month in my town), a studio apartment (goes for <$500 in my town), a bus pass ($75 per month), and a year of clothing (about $200 for second hand) is attainable on a normal salary, but insurance sometimes costs more than the monthly salary of someone working more than 60 hours a week with a pre-existing condition. You agree that the health-care systems in Canada and Britain are poor examples for America due to their inefficiency and waiting times and the fact that those countries have significantly smaller populations than America, but think that capitalist Japan with its lower unemployment rate has a better universal health care system, and although not wholly capable of being overhauled to the U.S.A as our population is not as homogenous, has some good elements that we could adopt.
11. You're pro-life, so you oppose abortion as you don't see its need outside of a rare case where the mother's life is in danger, and think that it's a violent form of birth control if used by those who don't bother with condoms, the pill and other contraceptives available at a low price from the same organization that provides many abortions. You also favor life imprisonment without parole over the death penalty as you're afraid of ever daring to risk the execution of an innocent and you only believe in war as a last resort.
12. You see Cuba as an absolute disaster, and are glad that the countries that adopted certain elements of socialism, i.e., Denmark and Sweden, never went quite that far. You also dislike Che intensely because you don't believe in a guy who wanted to nuke NYC and who carried out executions without even granting a trial.
13. You don't want to do away with taxpayer-funded Interstate highways, you don't want to privatize the CIA, FBI, NSA or the U.S. military, you have no problem with public libraries and you think that if someone wants to set up a private alternative, that's his prerogative, but don't take away what we already have and leave us with only that.
