Are black women seen as beauty that no one wants to admit to?
Like
If people find black women pretty, they are not to admit it because of society claiming opposite.
Is it also because society believes if you keep blacks hating their skin they are more easy to submit to white mainstream societal ways.
Is it taboo for a man to say black women are beautiful but not taboo to say any other race of woman is beautiful?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters For decades in America, black people were ridiculed (via blackface dolls, minstrel shows, films) for having full, voluptuous lips. There were whites who called black women "ugly" due to this, but many whites in the media say positive things today about Jolie's lips. In the past, some whites mocked black women for wearing braids, but once Bo Derek wore cornrows in '10', braids magically became a beautiful, "acceptable" hairstyle. Any attribute that black women generally have is ridiculed, but once it's attached to a white woman's body, general society places great value on it.
I don't think it's everyday people that deny a black woman's beauty. I think (and maybe this is what you mean) that it's the MEDIA that keeps reinforcing European/caucasian/latina standard of beauty as superior. With that said, yes, you have some black women who feel "unpretty" as a result. Yet, while the mainstream denies black beauty, you have millions of white and latina women all over the world who are killing themselves while trying to reshape, disfigure, nip and tuck, and darken their bodies under the cancerous sun in order to possess the admirable features that which black women are blessed with. So……..on a subconscious level, black women are admired for their exotic looks. And though its not admitted vocally, it definitely is celebrated via display all around you. (smile).
There are always uptight, somewhat superiority complexed racist, bigots who have something to say about anyone….it's a matter of personal preference to any individual and beauty starts within anyway and then works itself outward. White mainstream society needs to get out more and no, it is not taboo for a black man to tell a black woman that she is beautiful. They have been disregarded in that respect(mainly from some of the above mentioned individuals) and a little bit of flattery is a great stimulator for feeling good about yourself.Do you think they are beautiful? That's all that matters.I don't think black women get it either, because I made a comment that I thought black women had a natural beauty within them and they looked at me like I was lying or trying to be funny…..and I wasn't.
I believe you're right! Being a beautiful black woman myself, I find that people often look but, find it hard to admit that I look the way I do. People ask me "is there white in your blood line" or they'll say "your features don't look like the typical black person." I feel that beauty is what it is. No matter what color you are everyone should be unashamed to admit to all beauty.
Nice question. Yeah, I believe that may be the case when men of other races stare at a black woman and then shake their head. I've seen it plenty of time. I hate it though. I also hate it when black people do it to other races. It gets on my nerves. A woman is beautiful no matter what color she is. Same goes for men. I wish life could be easier and wish haters never existed. I'm agreeing with you on this one. Peace and Love.
Society doesn't mean sh*t!!!!!There is no society untill us as individuals have made up our collective minds."Society" considers Halle Berry to be hot. Why? because almost every individual finds her hot. It's always discussed and the outcome is the same – Halle Berry is hot. Therefore "Society" think she's hot. Society does not come first – "Everyone thinks Halle Berry is hot because Society says so."NO! Society says she is, because individuals say she is.Same goes for your example with black women. If the majority of people think she's hot, society thinks she's hot. Not the other way around – People hide their thought on blacks beauty because society says their ugly. No! People think most of the black people in the media are ugly, so society thinks they are ugly.
I'm not afraid to say I think a black girl's pretty. I'm straight so I wouldn't date them, but I can admit another girl's pretty. And in my books that I write, the girls whose POV's it's from (one's white, one's Eurasian) both describe a number of girls from all races as pretty. Plus this Senegalese model named Kinee Diouf – total knockout!
I don't get it…since when do people of all races not think black women are beautiful? I live in AZ so I'm afraid we don't happen to have a big population of African-Americans here, but I've lived in other big western cities and people often comment about the beauty of African-American women. Gorgeous skin, great skin quality and longevity, curvy figures, pretty hair, long eyelashes…what's not to like?
Nah, cuz I get that all the time. I don't think most people care about those old archaic views anymore. If they see an attractive woman, they'll say it. Seriously, white men and women tell me i'm gorgeous all the time. Not trying to sound all that, but just answering the question. And they admit it with their mouths, in public and actually seek validation of their thoughts from people standing nearby. It's a big ordeal most of the time…. Source(s): My avatar
To a certain extent I can relate to what you are saying. I think there is denial about our beauty, perhaps there is some fear that if black beauty becomes too mainstream it could revert the whole idea of what beauty is. THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE BLACK MODELS…. Source(s): Black woman
I see black women pretty much daily that I find attractive. If someone asked me I would have no problem admitting it.But, unlike what GIGGLES thinks, I don't find them attractive because they have dark skin, big lips or big butts.
No I don't think any of that and everyone I meet who finds women in general attractive, definitely don't hide their attraction to Black women.
I find some women of all races pretty. I have no reservations about saying so, and those that object can get stuffed. Source(s): R
huh? loads of people admit black girls are beautiful. Only people with really bad taste dont like black girls.
not really. if you're hot, you're hot. i mean i'm black and not had all this trouble with guys like people make it seem on Y!A.
Let's see? Tans, lip and butt injections. It looks like some people desire the natural phenotype of the brown women.
I've always found some black women to be hot. Gues no one ever told me about these news…
My brothers girlfriend is pretty : )
not for me, I am attracted to black women
I find non-black women to be more attractive.
