Any suggestions on how to calm nerves before a presentation?
I am an educator for a skin care line and have to perform a facial demonstation infront a group of 45 undergad esthetics students and suggestions on how to dealk with anxiety? And do beta blockers help?

I tend to sit back, relax, have myself a cup of tea, and then just go and get it over with.I've had to perform a few presentations over time, and I just have confidence in myself that I can manage it. I suffer from a complete lack of confidence in myself normally, but I just think to myself how bad it will be if something goes wrong… which it wont be… Kids might laugh, but who cares? Just go in, be generally up-beat, your students will pick up on your attitude and follow your presentation nicely.They're mature students, not children – they won't heckle or boo, they're there to listen to you, and they want to. If you mess up, they'll smile, you smile, you take a deep breath and you pick up where you left off. – If it does go wrong, nothing bad will happen, will it? Even though that probably won't even happen anyway… So you're fine! There really is nothing to worry about, and it's pointless to think otherwise because it's simply not true.You don't need to counter your nervousness, hide it, or embrace it. iv always hated doing presentations and oral reports since elementary school. middle school didnt help but during my freshman and sophmor years i for some reason seemed to enjoy doing presentations, i guess becuase i did alot of group reports and made lots of friends those years and was confident in myself. but then i went through alot of drama in junior year and my confidence went way down, i even dreaded reading from the book during class. iv never been able to get over my fear of presenting something to an audience. i get major anxiety when i know i have one coming up in my college classes, but thinkin about the state of mind i was in during my sophomore and freshmen years helps me relax. it lets me know that i can do it and enjoy it.
say out loud that your nervous. dont keep those feelings in or else it will just sit and fester. i always say out loud in my car or something "im nervous, but i'll be fine" just keep repeating it. remember… your in charge!
sounds dumb..but i read it somewhere…jump up and down or i used to walk up and down the stairs to get the adrenaline going
pray and ask God to calm you down
