ACETONE in skin care product?
1.) It has the stench of acetone smell
2.) One of its ingredients is acetone. to be exact, its ingredients are:
ACETONE, floupolymer, ACRYLIC POLYMER, tocopherol ACETATE (Vitamin E), Vitis Vinera (Grapes), Seed Oil Fragrance.
i don't like the sound of ACRYLIC POLYMER. Acylic is found in paint right?
So what about it? haven't heard Acetone in skin products before. tried searching it on the internet but found none. what good can acetone do for skin>? if its harmless on skin, will it be not hazardous to one's health, lungs to be exact?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Acetone is used most often used in astringents, fresheners or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin, speeding up the aging process. Ever feel that burning sensation? Why is it used in cosmetics and personal care products?Acetone functions as a solvent and as a denaturant. You can use acetone topically in a limited manner — I wouldn't use it every day without protection by any means, as long-term systemic effects are pretty nasty (lab work shows kidney and liver damage from long term exposure to fumes). But for occassional use as a solvent, acetone is comparably safe (see below for cautions). It's the most powerful solvent you can buy without a license and, as it's water soluble, it washes off easily. It's reasonably safe stuff, with some caveats. Source(s): http://www.roseindia0o0net/articles/how-ta…http://www.cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredient_…http://wiki.answers0o0com/Q/Is_it_safe_to_…
Acetone is a really strong solvent, usually used in nail polish removers. The first few ingredients on a list are usually the most prominent. I would toss out this stuff if I were you. Source(s): experience and cosmeticscop0o0com
